Finally Feeling Like An Adult!

And no, it’s not because I’ve accomplished some wild, impressive thing. It’s because my 4-year old will be going to kindergarten soon, and I’m 11 weeks along with my second child. THE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE REAL, MY FRIENDS! For some reason, my first few years as a parent has felt like one big experiment. I was totally okay with just going with the flow, not really following a routine, going out and about with my son depending on what we felt like doing that day.

Don’t get me wrong, we did lessons at home and I incorporated learning into play. My son knows his numbers, his alphabet, colors, and his vocabulary is actually quite impressive, meaning he doesn’t stop talking even when you want him to :)) We had structure in a sense that we ate meals together, there were rules that were strictly implemented, and boundaries were firm. But the stuff in between, well, we basically just did what we felt like doing. Shall we go to the mall today? Shall we eat lunch out? Feel like going to an amusement park? Watching a movie together? It was really all up in the air and each day my son would ask me, “mommy, what fun thing are we going to do today?”

But with school coming and with a second child on the way, it has dawned on me that our days now need to be scheduled, bed times much earlier, and money watched more closely. I lay in bed this morning feeling like I was FINALLY AN ADULT. This is getting serious folks!! And yes, I am feeling this for the first time after being married for 5 years and a mother for 4. It’s exhilarating, exciting, and I feel like I’m entering a stage in my life that is both so uncertain but also really sure. Maybe it’s my age, or past experiences, but I’m really not afraid. I feel equipped. I do not feel like I know everything, but I feel like I’m entering this phase with so much more confidence. I may not know everything, but I am so willing to learn, and I’m excited to be more diligent about recording the day-to-day (scheduled) adventures of a soon-to-be mother of two.

I’m Kris

Wife to an amazing man and mother to two crazy kids I would burn the whole world down for. I love to write, and so I write. I also love to draw, but I’m not very good at it. I do real estate and own a business. It’s a lot. And it’s a mess, sorry I didn’t have time to fix up. Come in, but watch your step! There’s probably some spilled snacks on the floor. And some Legos. But that’s okay, the couch is cozy and the coffee is hot. Let’s make chika!
